Target Now Price Matches!

Big news for anyone shopping with a tight budget this holiday season! Target and Best Buy have both adopted new price matching policies that will have shoppers saving big big bucks this year. But, what does this mean?

Let's find out.

I promise I don't work for Target. I actually never shop at Target, because I am team Wal-Mart, but that's another story all together.

Target shopping cartsThey have adopted a new holiday price match policy that went into affect on October 22. They have vaguely stated on their Corporate Social Responsibility Website, that there policy will be "including matching prices from select online retailers in stores for the first time." But, come on, what does that really mean.

Here's the Whole Policy

Here's a Brief Review:

The policy covers exact like items only. If you are trying to price match a Barbie Jeep, it must be the same Barbie Jeep that Target carries in their store.

The policy asks for proof of the price. For example, if you saw the better price in a Wal-Mart ad, you must take said Wal-Mart ad into Target with you. Or, if you say that same item on Walmart.com, you must pull up that price on your phone (or tablet) to show that proof.

Ad must be valid for that day. If the ad ends on November 16, and you try to price  match with it on November 26, you will be out of luck.

You CAN use coupons and price matching together to get the best savings.

Sorry, but Target will not allow you to price match items that are priced for "Black Friday".

The only online retailers included in price matching are Walmart.com, Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, ToysRUs.com, or BabiesRUs.com; prices from 3rd party sellers on these websites will not be honored.

As per usual, there are tons of if's and's or but's so definitely check out the website before you go shopping!

Happy Saving!

  1. That's pretty cool. I think the key bit is in the first line. "It must be an item they stock." I can't believe they will match online prices? This will be helpful to the girlfriend, since she is team Boutique Tarjay. You always have great advice that I secretly use(plagiarize), on her to make it look like I have a clue. Way to make me look good Coupon Queen. Thanks again.

    1. The most annoying part of price matching will definitely be making sure its the same item. I am hoping that they will look at it as "Eh, it's close enough." Fingers crossed.

And most importantly, that is what I am here for. I love knowing that I am actually helping people. This is definitely the best time of the year to show off the money saving skills. If she ever thanks you in chocolate or cookies feel free to share.

  2. I'm an avid follower of your blog:) I love reading all of your posts to help me save money because at the end of the day that's probably my number one concern. I'm glad you made this post because I wasn't aware that target had this policy going on and I think that it will ultimately help me with my Christmas shopping. I love Walmart also but sometimes Target has a little bit more of a different selection of things. Thanks for the tips!

    1. You just made me smile in real life =]]]. Thank you for reading!!

Sometimes it is much easier to deal with Target than deal with Wal-Mart. Especially the Wal-Mart lovingly nicknamed "The Ghetto Wal-Mart". lol! I'm going to keep my eye on some of my big girl couponers I follow to see how successful they are with price matching. I'll keep you updated!

  3. Wow, I had no idea that Target never price matched before. I always assumed that they did to keep up with Wal Mart. That basically means I can shop at Target and get Wal Mart deals without the hassle of actually going to Wal Mart.
